Day One

Addis Abeba City Tour

  • Be welcome and get transferred to your hotel.
  • After refreshing your hotel, start exploring the political capital of Africa.
  • The Addis Lay full-day mixed tour is a combination of both food and city tours.
  • The expert of the city will take you to the most iconic, interesting, and fun sights in the city, including the National Archeological Museum of Ethiopia (where you will see the fossil remains of our ancient ancestor Lucy), Haile Selassie’s former palace and Ethnological Museum in the Addis Abeba university main campus, 
  • Drive to Entoto mountain to have a breathtaking view of the capital, Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, the Local Market, Ethiopian Traditional Lunch, and Coffee from the most famous coffee shop in town. 
  • Experience one of the most exciting cuisines in the world with our incredible food tours (feast tours). Test the best local joints, get introduced to the most common dishes from different parts of Ethiopia, as well as learn how to eat injera, the delicious staple that also serves as a plate and a traditional coffee ceremony.

Day Two

Addis Abeba – Gonder – SMNP (Semien mountains national park)

  • Take the morning flight and depart Addis for Gonder. It is about an hour’s flight.
  • Have a short coffee stop in Gonder before driving up to Debark and proceed your way to the roof of Africa (Semien Mountains). The drive would take approximately two hours. Lunch in Debark and then proceed the drive into the Semien mountains national park. 
  • Steer about 60 km in the park with many viewpoints stops and arrive at the campsite in the late afternoon.
  • Overnight camping in Chenek, 4200m above sea level (basic available).

Day Three

Semien mountains national park

  • Chennek campsite is situated at a spectacular place and gives you scenic mountain ranges and an impressive view from the campsite. You can possibly see the endangered endemic Ethiopian wolf.
  • After breakfast, there will be a short hike around the campsite.
  • Drive and hike in the park all day with a lunch box. Hiking to Imet Gogo for about two hours would be the best for this day. The view gives you a 360-degree view of the highlands and the lowlands of the park. You can see the highest peak of the park from here, (Ras Degen, 4620m above sea level).
  • Lunch will be by the view of Imet Gogo, 4009m above sea level.
  • In the afternoon drive to your lodge and enjoy the beautiful air from the highest lodge in the continent.
  • Overnight in Semien Lodge, (best available)

Day Four

Semien mountains national park – Gondar

  • In the morning after a relaxed breakfast, have a short walk around the lodge before driving back to Gonder. 
  • The park is one of our many UNESCO world heritage sights. 
  • The breathtaking landscapes, escarpments, and plateaus are the grace of this park formed by a massive volcano about 30 million years ago. Take a short and decent drive to Gonder via Debark.
  • After lunch in Gonder, start exploring the royal enclosures of Gonderians.
  • Gonder was the third capital of Ethiopia after Axum and Lalibela founded in the 16th century by king Fassiledes.
  • The well-experienced and knowledgeable guide will take you to the castle of king Fassiledes and his series of successors. 
  • You will be able to visit the fantastically painted church of Debrebrhan Selassie and the swimming pool of king Fassiledes. The entire tour will take about three hours.
  • Dinner at the four sisters restaurant will upgrade your evening. 
  • Overnight at Hills resort Gonder, (best available).

Day Five

Gondar – Addis – Lalibela

  • After breakfast, take the 9:45 flight to Lalibela via Addis. 
  • The flight would take about 2:45 with a stopover in Addis Ababa.
  • We will be picked up by our driver from the airport and get transferred to the hotel.
  • Drop your baggage, have a relaxed lunch, and start exploring the second Jerusalem (Lalibela). The local guide will meet us in the hotel and take us around.
  • The rock-hewn churches of Lalibela were curved in the late 12th century by saint Lalibela into the ground. It took him about 23 years with over 20 thousand laborers. 
  • They are said to be the eighth wonder of the world. 
  • The churches are grouped in three different areas. The visit to these churches would take roughly two relaxed days.
  • Dinner at Ben Abeba restaurant is highly recommended.
  • Overnight Sora lodge Lalibela, (best available).
